One of the best restaurants in Caracas is called Soma Café, inside the Trasnocho Cultural at Las Mercedes’s shopping mall. Trasnocho is a cultural reference in the city. This city that has high rates of insecurity and all sort of problems, it also has this oasis where all your problems are gone as soon as you step in.
The restaurant is surrounded by Trasnocho cinema and theater. The décor changes every month thanks to new paintings by young artists, reminding you it is a unique place all the time. You may usually meet the theater’s manager with an exquisite red wine on her hands when it is not so crowded.
The menu is varied and the courses are not pricey, considering inflation. There is a lot to choose from it. You may choose from pasta, sandwiches, or the main courses deliciously serve on a nouvelle cuisine style. Are you vegetarian or on a diet? No problem, there are also fresh salads. My personal favorite is the mouth-watering pipping hot italian spaguetti with juicy tomato sauce, black olives, caper, pepper and one aromatic mint leaf.
For dessert, you may choose from traditional cheese cakes to exquisite hot brownies, but my personal recommendation is the baked pineapple cake with a touch of cream cheese: a delight in flavors! If you are lucky, the Barista will tell you how to drink a truly strong hot Italian espresso with a slice of lemon peel and two or three sugars.
It is not just a restaurant but an experience Caracas’s citizens should have. A restaurant that breath culture. An investment for your body and soul. A space thought for your comfort and relaxation. Citizens will not find any other like it.
